The US Forest Service says, "Monongahela [National Forest] offers a variety of freshwater fishing experiences. Our Forest contains 600 miles of cold water streams, representing 50 percent of all trout water and 90 percent of native brook trout water in West Virginia."

 

The WV Dept. of Natural Resources says, "While there are 500 miles of native trout streams in West Virginia, the streams are small and represent only two percent of the total miles of stream in the state." (WVDNR Go Native)
